Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureA+
The Patriots won the night they stopped Skattebo from sliding. Grade: A-.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Cam Skattebo tumbling to the Patriots in the 220th overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Add it all up and it grades out a clean A-.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. Riley has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Will Campbell
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A real need, handled.
Pick25 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In the 25th pick they get a disruptive interior force at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick64 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
You do not let a safety like Xavier Watts reach the Round 2 slot and blink. They did not. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick66 Rnd3 Jalen Royals
Jalen Royals at slot 66 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick69 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson at pick No. 69 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick71 Rnd3 Gunnar Helm
Gunnar Helm in No. 71 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The roster fit checks out.
Pick86 Rnd3 Demetrius Knight Jr.
Circle this one: Demetrius Knight Jr. at the 86th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick106 Rnd4 Jayden Higgins
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick 106 is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick120 Rnd4 Anthony Belton
They took Anthony Belton at par in pick No. 120, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick135 Rnd4 Jackson Slater
Jackson Slater at the 135th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick154 Rnd5 Quincy Riley
A real head-scratcher, Quincy Riley in the 154th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick220 Rnd7 Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo in the Round 7 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick238 Rnd7 Lander Barton
Lander Barton at No. 238 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
