Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Cowboys, and a B- to prove it.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Cowboys would have aced it. Barryn Sorrell at pick 148 is 148 spots clear of where he belonged.

On value alone, Stutsman makes the weekend a net positive. They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
In pick No. 12 they get a bell-cow for the offense, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick44 Rnd2 Tyleik Williams
A tidy little value on Tyleik Williams in slot 44, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick76 Rnd3 Xavier Restrepo
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Xavier Restrepo in the Round 3 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick148 Rnd5 Barryn Sorrell
Barryn Sorrell at pick 148 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick170 Rnd5 Danny Stutsman
They barely believed it either: Danny Stutsman still on the board at Round 5, Pick 33. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick173 Rnd5 Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson in the 173rd overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick179 Rnd6 Quinn Carroll
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Quinn Carroll. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick186 Rnd6 Terrance Ferguson
Terrance Ferguson at pick 186 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick209 Rnd6 Jaylen Reed
A safety of that caliber at No. 209 is the definition of value, full stop. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick213 Rnd6 KJ Jefferson
Value said wait; KJ Jefferson in the 213th overall pick says they were not listening. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick248 Rnd7 Jamon Dumas-Johnson
Steal is underselling it; Jamon Dumas-Johnson at slot 248 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
