The Bengals kept it disciplined and banked a B. The Amari Gainer pick is the one that will follow the Bengals into the fall. They took him 64 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. No fireworks, but a solid B.
The Rosemy-Jacksaint steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Taliese Fuaga
In No. 18 they get a building block for the line. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick56
Rnd2
Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
Somehow Ennis Rakestraw Jr. was still sitting there in the 56th overall pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick80
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe in the 80th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick115
Rnd4
Marshawn Kneeland
A tidy bit of business in Round 4, Pick 15, where Marshawn Kneeland graded well above the range. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick151
Rnd5
Dallin Holker
They did well to land Dallin Holker in the Round 5 slot, just ahead of his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick173
Rnd5
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
The board fumbled Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint all the way to slot 173, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick196
Rnd6
Gabe Hall
A reach on Gabe Hall in pick No. 196; the board had better options right there. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick238
Rnd7
Amari Gainer
Amari Gainer at pick 238 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick254
Rnd7
Marcus Harris
Marcus Harris in the 254th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
