Draft Grade — Giants
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesD- FutureA
The phones sank the Giants this weekend: B-.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Giants reached some 49 spots for Brian Ugwu, and value like that does not grow back.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Job largely done: safety settled and 6 of 9 of the wish list covered.

It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Taliese Fuaga
In the 14th overall pick they get a blindside protector. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick39 Rnd2 Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
They took Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at par in Round 2, Pick 7, which is nothing to complain about. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick47 Rnd2 Kris Jenkins
Good price on Kris Jenkins in pick No. 47, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick70 Rnd3 Javon Bullard
Javon Bullard at slot 70 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick108 Rnd4 Ray Davis
Ray Davis at No. 108 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick140 Rnd5 Jaheim Bell
Jaheim Bell at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick185 Rnd6 Brian Ugwu
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Brian Ugwu well ahead of where he belonged. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
