Grs107 DRAFTING FOR THEChiefs
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall

ValueB
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
Larceny in slot 61 lands the Chiefs a B, Morgan and all. This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Jordan Morgan, the No. 25 name on the board, stolen at pick No. 61. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. Reaching for Goncalves left real value on the table behind him. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Troy Franklin
In pick No. 29 they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick61
Rnd2
Jordan Morgan
Jordan Morgan at No. 61 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick92
Rnd3
Matt Goncalves
They liked Matt Goncalves enough to skip the value, taking him in the 92nd pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick129
Rnd4
MarShawn Lloyd
A straight-up fair deal on MarShawn Lloyd at pick 129, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick161
Rnd5
Kitan Oladapo
No drama and no debate, Kitan Oladapo went about where he belonged in the 161st overall pick. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick171
Rnd5
Jordan Jefferson
No edge and no loss on Jordan Jefferson in slot 171; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
Pick175
Rnd5
Curtis Jacobs
Curtis Jacobs in Round 5, Pick 39 is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick207
Rnd6
Christian Jones
Christian Jones is a better player than the Round 6 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick250
Rnd7
Walter Rouse
They paid sticker price for Walter Rouse in slot 250, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
