Draft Grade — Chiefs

FutureB+
The Chiefs let Roberts fall and pounced. Final grade: B+. This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Willie Roberts, the No. 209 name on the board, stolen at the 246th pick. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The veteran additions, Jack Conklin chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not. The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Xavier Worthy
In No. 30 they get a go-to option on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick57
Rnd2
Jermaine Burton
No drama and no debate, Jermaine Burton went about where he belonged in pick 57. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick104
Rnd4
Dominick Puni
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Dominick Puni at the 104th pick is the proof. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick141
Rnd5
Jaheim Bell
Jaheim Bell at the 141st overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick167
Rnd5
Zy Alexander
Zy Alexander at the Round 5 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick171
Rnd5
Connor Colby
A tidy bit of business in slot 171, where Connor Colby graded well above the range. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick175
Rnd5
Lathan Ransom
Good price on Lathan Ransom in pick No. 175, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick203
Rnd6
Michael Barrett
Michael Barrett in Round 6, Pick 28 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick246
Rnd7
Willie Roberts
You do not let a cornerback like Willie Roberts reach slot 246 and blink. They did not. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
