A costly weekend of dealing drags the 49ers to a D.

The 49ers put a flag in the ground for Jay Toia, 107 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Landing Walker that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and tight end is still a hole.

In No. 31 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.

Jalon Walker at Round 2, Pick 11 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick68 Rnd3 Darien Porter
No edge and no loss on Darien Porter in slot 68; it is a wash and a sensible one. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.

Ozzy Trapilo at the 75th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
