Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesC FutureB
More right than wrong for the Chiefs, and a B- to prove it.

Boards are made to be trusted, and the Chiefs shredded theirs for Rasheen Ali. He came off 38 spots early, and the room will hear about it. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

Laumea falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 T'Vondre Sweat
In pick 25 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher at fair value.
Pick57 Rnd2 Byron Murphy II
They paid up for Byron Murphy II at the 57th pick when waiting would have done the job. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick125 Rnd4 Cedric Gray
A straight-up fair deal on Cedric Gray at pick No. 125, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick167 Rnd5 Zy Alexander
Zy Alexander at the 167th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick171 Rnd5 Ty'Ron Hopper
No edge and no loss on Ty'Ron Hopper in No. 171; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick175 Rnd5 Sataoa Laumea
They barely believed it either: Sataoa Laumea still on the board at Round 5, Pick 39. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick203 Rnd6 Miles Frazier
Miles Frazier at pick 203 is a conviction pick that outran the value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick246 Rnd7 Hayden Hatten
Hayden Hatten at No. 246 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick251 Rnd7 Rasheen Ali
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Rasheen Ali well ahead of where he belonged. It fills a real need, too.
