Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureB-
Quarterback settled, Daniels in the fold, and a B for the Commanders.

After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Commanders committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.

Hadden at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In slot 2 they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
Pick36 Rnd2 Brian Thomas Jr.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Brian Thomas Jr. in Round 2, Pick 4. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick40 Rnd2 Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
They did well to land Ennis Rakestraw Jr. in the Round 2 slot, just ahead of his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick73 Rnd3 Kamren Kinchens
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Kamren Kinchens at No. 73. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick90 Rnd3 Dominick Puni
Dominick Puni at pick 90 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick104 Rnd4 Matt Goncalves
Matt Goncalves in the 104th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick106 Rnd4 Cam Hart
Cam Hart at pick No. 106 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick139 Rnd5 Blake Fisher
Blake Fisher in the 139th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick146 Rnd5 Ainias Smith
A clean, defensible pick in No. 146 with a little surplus value in Ainias Smith. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick152 Rnd5 Tommy Eichenberg
Tommy Eichenberg at the 152nd pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick164 Rnd5 Luke McCaffrey
A slide stopped in the 164th overall pick, with Luke McCaffrey worth more than the price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick201 Rnd6 Kamal Hadden
Kamal Hadden in the Round 6 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick205 Rnd6 Jase McClellan
A quiet steal in pick No. 205: Jase McClellan for less than the market said. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick222 Rnd7 Ryan Flournoy
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Ryan Flournoy in pick 222, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
