Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall A-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureA
The Commanders finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a A-.

The Commanders spent the pick that matters most on Jayden Daniels, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A-.

If Jones pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Getting Guerendo where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Jayden Daniels and all.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In pick 5 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick36 Rnd2 Troy Franklin
Troy Franklin in the Round 2 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick37 Rnd2 Jordan Morgan
Jordan Morgan in pick No. 37 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick40 Rnd2 Kamari Lassiter
Kamari Lassiter at the 40th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick67 Rnd3 Payton Wilson
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Payton Wilson in the 67th pick. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick78 Rnd3 Xavier Legette
Good price on Xavier Legette in slot 78, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick100 Rnd3 Christian Jones
Christian Jones at No. 100 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick139 Rnd5 Justin Eboigbe
A premium they did not need to pay, Justin Eboigbe a notch or two before his time. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick152 Rnd5 Isaac Guerendo
A running back of that caliber at the Round 5 slot is the definition of value, full stop. It fills a real need, too.
Pick222 Rnd7 Trey Knox
No edge and no loss on Trey Knox in Round 7, Pick 2; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
