Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Bills robbed the room for Legette. Final grade: B.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Bills were there to profit. Xavier Legette, the No. 73 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick 129. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

If Lee pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

They went 7 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Troy Franklin
In the 28th overall pick they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick60 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
Good price on Payton Wilson in the Round 2 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick99 Rnd3 Blake Fisher
Circle this one: Blake Fisher at Round 3, Pick 36 is a fall that decides a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick129 Rnd4 Xavier Legette
Somehow Xavier Legette was still sitting there in slot 129, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick159 Rnd5 Beau Brade
They robbed the room for Beau Brade here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The roster fit checks out.
Pick162 Rnd5 Joe Milton III
Joe Milton III in No. 162 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick198 Rnd6 Logan Lee
Logan Lee at pick No. 198 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick202 Rnd6 Walter Rouse
The board fumbled Walter Rouse all the way to pick 202, and they scooped it up. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick206 Rnd6 Johnny Dixon
You do not let a cornerback like Johnny Dixon reach No. 206 and blink. They did not. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick246 Rnd7 Jawhar Jordan
They jumped the gun on Jawhar Jordan, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A need, and now a little less of one.
