Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureB
The Bears won the night they stopped Ramsey from sliding. Grade: B.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Kamari Ramsey tumbling to the Bears in slot 111 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.

Reaching for Pegues left real value on the table behind him. They will answer for taking safety early while edge rusher, linebacker and other spots went begging. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

They chose more darts over a bigger single swing.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick10 Rnd1 Will Campbell
In pick No. 10 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A real need, handled.
Pick39 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
Tyler Booker in Round 2, Pick 7 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick71 Rnd3 Dylan Sampson
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Dylan Sampson in the 71st overall pick, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick72 Rnd3 Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore at the 72nd pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick111 Rnd4 Kamari Ramsey
A surprising call. With edge rusher, linebacker and other spots still to address, they spent slot 111 on Kamari Ramsey, a safety they were not short of.
Pick147 Rnd5 JJ Pegues
Value said wait; JJ Pegues in No. 147 says they were not listening. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick197 Rnd6 Ricardo Hallman
A reach for Ricardo Hallman in the Round 6 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick233 Rnd7 Roc Taylor
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Roc Taylor. The roster fit checks out.
Pick244 Rnd7 Brant Kuithe
The board fumbled Brant Kuithe all the way to No. 244, and they scooped it up. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick253 Rnd7 Nick Nash
A reasonable price with a little left over, Nick Nash in the 253rd pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
