Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Grand theft in No. 171: the Seahawks steal Mondon Jr. and grade out a B.

Call it larceny. Smael Mondon Jr. sat on the board until the Round 5 slot, and the Seahawks did not need to be asked twice. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Conner pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Landon Jackson
In the 23rd overall pick they get a premier pass rusher. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick50 Rnd2 Alfred Collins
A reach for Alfred Collins in Round 2, Pick 18; a little patience would have been rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick82 Rnd3 Jake Majors
They paid up for Jake Majors at pick No. 82 when waiting would have done the job. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick87 Rnd3 Jermari Harris
A straight-up fair deal on Jermari Harris at the Round 3 slot, value and slot in agreement. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick122 Rnd4 Mason Taylor
Somehow Mason Taylor was still sitting there in slot 122, and they pounced on premier tight end value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick136 Rnd4 Hayden Conner
They paid a round early for Hayden Conner in pick 136, more than the board wanted. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick171 Rnd5 Smael Mondon Jr.
Smael Mondon Jr. at the 171st pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick183 Rnd6 Oronde Gadsden II
Oronde Gadsden II at No. 183 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It fills a real need, too.
Pick210 Rnd6 Cobee Bryant
They will replay Cobee Bryant at slot 210 for years; that is how good the value is. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick234 Rnd7 Upton Stout
Circle this one: Upton Stout at pick No. 234 is a fall that decides a draft. It adds depth where they could use a little.
