Draft Grade — 49ers

The 49ers kept it disciplined and banked a B-. Nobody else had Oluwafemi Oladejo anywhere near slot 139. The 49ers did, by 99 spots, and that gap is the whole story.
Getting Jackson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the linebacker spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Armand Membou
In the 11th pick they get a cornerstone up front, though they paid up to get him. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick43
Rnd2
Tre Harris
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tre Harris. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick75
Rnd3
Deone Walker
Nice patience on Deone Walker, who had no business lasting to pick No. 75. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick99
Rnd3
Savion Williams
A tidy little value on Savion Williams in No. 99, a step better than break-even. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick112
Rnd4
Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson at pick 112 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick138
Rnd4
Bhayshul Tuten
They went early on Bhayshul Tuten in slot 138, and the value did not follow. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick139
Rnd4
Oluwafemi Oladejo
Oluwafemi Oladejo in Round 4, Pick 38 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick148
Rnd5
Dillon Gabriel
Taking Dillon Gabriel in slot 148 is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
Pick189
Rnd6
Nohl Williams
They read the board right and Nohl Williams was the payoff at No. 189. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick228
Rnd7
Shilo Sanders
A real head-scratcher, Shilo Sanders in pick No. 228 is miles ahead of his ranking. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick232
Rnd7
Zeek Biggers
By-the-book stuff, Zeek Biggers at the 232nd overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick255
Rnd7
Jackson Hawes
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jackson Hawes in pick 255. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
