Huskie Badger DRAFTING FOR THEPackers

Draft Grade — Packers
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB-
TradesC+
FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Packers, and a B- to prove it. There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Packers started one anyway for C.J. Hanson, 44 picks ahead of schedule. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Their trades came out a wash either way.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Graham Barton
In the 28th overall pick they get a building block for the line. A real need, handled.
Pick41
Rnd2
Jordan Morgan
Fair-plus on Jordan Morgan, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick58
Rnd2
Max Melton
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Max Melton. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick88
Rnd3
Cole Bishop
They paid a round early for Cole Bishop in pick 88, more than the board wanted. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick91
Rnd3
Braelon Allen
A reach on Braelon Allen in pick No. 91; the board had better options right there. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick126
Rnd4
Mohamed Kamara
A straight-up fair deal on Mohamed Kamara at the 126th pick, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick128
Rnd4
Tommy Eichenberg
They liked Tommy Eichenberg enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 128. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick169
Rnd5
Ty'Ron Hopper
Ty'Ron Hopper at the 169th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick202
Rnd6
JD Bertrand
This one needs a full-page explanation: JD Bertrand in the Round 6 slot, miles early. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick219
Rnd6
C.J. Hanson
They reached a country mile for C.J. Hanson at pick No. 219, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick245
Rnd7
Tarheeb Still
Tarheeb Still at pick 245 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick255
Rnd7
Trey Taylor
Trey Taylor in the 255th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
