Staximus DRAFTING FOR THEPatriots

The Patriots let Harris fall into their laps, and walked away with a B. When a board-topper like Tre Harris slides to No. 105, you do not overthink it, and the Patriots did not. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
In the 24th overall pick they get a red-zone target to build around, and a steal at that.
Pick38
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker slipping to No. 38 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick45
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
The board fumbled Nick Emmanwori all the way to Round 2, Pick 13, and they scooped it up. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick53
Rnd2
Alfred Collins
No drama and no debate, Alfred Collins went about where he belonged in the 53rd pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick69
Rnd3
Jayden Higgins
They paid sticker price for Jayden Higgins in pick No. 69, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick77
Rnd3
Maxwell Hairston
Maxwell Hairston in slot 77 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick105
Rnd4
Tre Harris
Tre Harris in the Round 4 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick145
Rnd5
Jordan Phillips
They robbed the room for Jordan Phillips here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick219
Rnd7
Oronde Gadsden II
Taking Oronde Gadsden II in No. 219 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick222
Rnd7
Donovan Edwards
Donovan Edwards at pick 222 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick234
Rnd7
Jack Kiser
Steal is underselling it; Jack Kiser at the 234th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick240
Rnd7
John Williams
By-the-book stuff, John Williams at pick No. 240 squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
