The Bears robbed the room for Smith. Final grade: D-. You build a draft on nights like this. Brashard Smith had no business being available in the 204th pick, and the Bears did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
If Mills pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. It is not that Mukuba is a bad player; it is that the Bears had louder needs to answer first.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
