Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall
D-
ValueB

TradesF
FutureB-
A franchise passer in Williams headlines a D- weekend for the Commanders. You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Commanders did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high.
So much rides on Caleb Williams that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. The Eichenberg pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up.
Johnson at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, running back very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In the Round 1 slot they get the face of the franchise at fair value.
Pick36
Rnd2
Tyler Guyton
Tyler Guyton at Round 2, Pick 4 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick54
Rnd2
Bralen Trice
Bralen Trice in slot 54 is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick67
Rnd3
Cade Stover
They went early on Cade Stover in No. 67, and the value did not follow. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick100
Rnd3
Calen Bullock
Calen Bullock slipping to pick No. 100 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick121
Rnd4
Tommy Eichenberg
Tommy Eichenberg at pick 121 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick139
Rnd5
Christian Jones
A clean, defensible pick in the 139th overall pick with a little surplus value in Christian Jones. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick147
Rnd5
Jaylin Simpson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jaylin Simpson at the 147th pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick179
Rnd6
Layden Robinson
Layden Robinson at No. 179 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick206
Rnd6
Curtis Jacobs
Curtis Jacobs in pick 206 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick222
Rnd7
Cornelius Johnson
Cornelius Johnson in slot 222 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
