Draft Profile: Bio
Romeo Doubs went to Jefferson High School in Los Angeles where he was a two-sport athlete in football and track & field and was mainly used as a running back where he recorded 2,000 all-purpose yards as a senior. Despite this impressive production he wasn't highly recruited after he underperformed athletically in testing - recording a 4.72 40-yard dash and a 33-inch vertical at 6’2″ - he also weighed in at only 176 pounds. He did receive some attention from recruiters and opted to join Nevada.

He made an immediate impact for Nevada as a freshman, with his first collegiate touch coming against Portland State where he returned a punt 80 yards for a touchdown. He finished the season after starting nine games and appeared in all 13 games, finishing third on the team with 43 catches and 562 yards.
Doubs Improved upon his impressive freshman season, earning All-Mountain West Honorable Mention accolades and finished second on Nevada with 649 yards and four receiving touchdowns.

He was named to the All-Mountain West First Team after his junior season and was considered a candidate for the Biletnikoff Award after Leading the Mountain West in receiving yards (1,002) and sharing the conference lead in touchdown catches with nine.
Opting to stay in school for his senior season Doubs didn't disappoint and was named to the All-Mountain West First Team, as well as being a candidate for the Biletnikoff Award for the second season - after logging an impressive 80 receptions and 1114 YDs with 11 TDs and an even more impressive 130.6 QB rating when targeted.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Good athlete with the perfect size for the position and has a great burst off the line of scrimmage - is a dominating outside receiver
  • Super reliable receiver capable of making difficult catches in traffic over the middle or one on one down the sideline.
  • Has a knack for getting open and is a quarterback's best friend - passers just need to toss the ball in his area and he'll come down with it. Shows in his stats with a 130.6 QB rating when thrown to
  • Has good arm length, excellent body control, and a very good catch radius as well as nice leaping ability - great target in the red zone
  • Has the strong hands any NFL wide receiver coach and quarterback would covet. Tracks the deep ball over either shoulder and brings in passes fluidly without breaking stride downfield.
  • Often used on deep routes, getting separation down the sideline or over the middle on crossing routes by extending his arms rather than pure speed.
  • Scary in the open field with serious YAC ability
  • Hasn't got elite timed speed but plays faster in pads and he's rarely caught from behind.
  • A versatile weapon, proving to be effective inside in the slot and outside on the perimeter. Makes plays at all levels of the field.
  • Has good body strength to squirm out of tackles with the coordination to maneuver his frame between defenders.
  • Strong runner with the ball with enough agility to make defenders miss in the open field.
  • Nice lateral movement skills enable to beat press corners at the line of scrimmage
  • Offers a level of versitility - has had some experience in the slot
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Comes off the snap high and upright, and doesn't get to top speed quickly
  • Does not always use his hands to secure deep throws, allowing the ball into his pads and chest. and has had more drops than you would like
  • Given his ideal size he doesn't like to go over the middle and will shy away from contact
  • Isn't instinctive getting to the ball in the air can mistime jumps and takes poor angles
  • Given his level of experience he has never had a diverse route tree and has been sloppy rounding his routes
  • In the Mountain West he faced a lower level of competition - and so it's a question mark how he'll perform against top-level talent in the NFL
Scouting Report: Summary
Romeo Doubs is a quality NFL prospect who has put up consistently great numbers throughout his college career. He has great size with a filled-out physique, has a nice catch radius, and dominates defensive backs in contested catches situations, however, his long speed is a question mark, and will need to demonstrate he has the timed speed worthy of a high selection at the combine.

He likely projects as a Z receiver in the pros, as a complementary option, with X receiver possibilities, and could be a starter immediately in the right scheme.

Doubs will likely hear his name called in the third or fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
