Draft Profile: Bio
NFL bloodlines run deep for Logan Fano, whose four uncles played professionally, including Gabe Reid (Bears) and Teni Palepoi (Chargers), and whose brother Spencer is a projected first-round pick in this same draft class. A four-star recruit out of Timpview High School in Spanish Fork, Utah, Fano was a two-time All-State selection and Region Defensive MVP who posted 20.5 sacks as a senior. He also earned Polynesian Bowl All-American honors.Fano originally enrolled at BYU in January 2022 but never played for the Cougars, instead serving a Mormon mission before transferring to Utah ahead of 2023. His debut season with the Utes was productive but brief: 14 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles across five games before a torn ACL shut him down. He had also suffered an ACL tear in 2022.
Healthy in 2024, Fano started nine of 12 games and finished with 35 tackles, 6.5 TFL, and 2.5 sacks. He took another step in 2025 as a full-time starter, totaling 44 tackles, 7.5 TFL, 4.5 sacks, and two pass breakups to earn All-Big 12 Second Team recognition. He declared for the draft following the regular season.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Good height and functional power at the point of attack against the run.
- Takes on blocks with a wide base and solid pad level consistently.
- Gets his hands up quickly and works to get extension on blockers.
- Steady improvement as a run defender, particularly in his final college season.
- Motor runs hot; second-effort plays show up regularly on tape.
- Effective long-arm move that sets up a useful counter to the outside.
- Pursues well laterally with good angles and closing burst.
- No trouble handling tight ends at the point of attack.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Short arms for the position limit his reach and leverage as a pass rusher.
- Lacks the bend to turn the corner and finish at the quarterback.
- Spin move is undeveloped; spins in place without gaining ground laterally.
- Gets reached on the backside of zone runs too often.
- Two torn ACLs before age 24 raise durability questions.
- Older prospect who turns 24 during his rookie year, capping developmental upside.
- Struggles to anchor and hold the edge against quality offensive tackles.
Scouting Report: Summary
Making a 53-man roster is going to be a fight for Fano. He is a one-dimensional player at this stage: useful against the run, limited everywhere else. His power, pad level, and motor translate to early-down work, and his run defense improved each year at Utah. But NFL rosters do not have room for edge defenders who cannot threaten the quarterback, and Fano's pass rush profile is thin. Roughly 11% of his pass rush snaps produced pressure across three college seasons, and that number leaned heavily on effort and cleanup rather than winning reps off the edge.Without reliable bend or a real counter game, he is not going to suddenly become a pass rush factor against NFL tackles. The spin move needs to be scrapped and rebuilt entirely. His bull rush can move average college linemen but stalled against better competition. The path to a roster is through a four-man front that values edge-setting and uses scheme, stunts, and twists to manufacture pressure rather than asking its ends to win one-on-one. Special teams will be critical for him to stick, and his effort level and toughness should translate there.
The two ACL tears and his age work against him. Fano turns 24 during his rookie year, which limits developmental upside for a player who already needs significant technical growth as a rusher. He is a practice squad candidate who could work his way onto a roster if he shows he can be trusted on run downs and contribute as a core special teamer. That is a narrow path, but the run defense tape is real enough to give him a shot at it.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank
in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance.
For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
