Draft Profile: Bio
Jarek Broussard from Bishop Lynch High School was rated a 3-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 3-star grade by 247 Sports. Following high school, Broussard joined Colorado. In 2020 as a freshman Broussard saw action in 6 games for the Buffaloes as he ran for 889 yards on 156 attempts for an impressive 5.7 yards per carry, with 5 TDs, with 2 fumbles. As a receiver he made only 9 receptions for 65 yards.
As a sophomore in 2021 he played 11 games. and rushed for 657 yards on 141 carries for 4.7 ypc, with 2 TDs, with no fumbles. In the passing game he pulled in only 13 receptions for 81 yards.
After the end of the year Broussard transferred to Michigan State where as a junior Broussard saw action in 11 games for the Spartans. He ran for 298 yards on 63 attempts for 4.7 ypc, with 3 TDs, with no fumbles. As a receiver he made only 4 receptions for 48 yards.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Once Broussard plants his foot, he’s explosive moving upfield, and his 0-to-60 acceleration is enough to catch defenses off-guard.
- Broussard moves at a different speed than most of the players on the field. His initial burst and acceleration once the ball is in his hands are special.
- He keeps his pads low and consistently falls forward. Unlike most backs his size, he has the lateral movement and stop-start ability to make defenders whiff. Broussard has breakaway speed in the open field.
- Elusive, pogo stick-quick back with excellent initial burst and very good long speed. Gets to top speed quickly. Turns the corner and accelerates smoothly with vision to cut or stop-and-start. Tough enough to attack the hole inside and uses electric lateral agility to avoid. Breakaway threat has improved as a receiver.
- He’s a natural pass catcher who can be used on screen and swing passes, and he has the ability to flex out as a matchup chess piece.
- He’s a weapon in the screen game, quickly transitioning from receiver to runner and showing the twitch to make defenders miss in space.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Size is an obvious issue. Broussard will never be able to do anything between the tackles, and he will likely be limited to a lot of gadget plays like fly sweeps.
- Does not always read blocks behind pulling guards. May not be big enough to move piles at the next level and has a tendency to bury his head too soon.
- He’ll be relegated to outside runs and is little more than a potential cut blocker in blitz pickup

The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
