Draft Profile: Bio
Jaeden Roberts, a 6'5", 316-pound offensive guard from Alabama, hails from Houston, Texas. A four-star recruit out of North Shore High School, Roberts was part of two consecutive Texas 6A D-I state championship teams. He chose Alabama over Auburn, bringing his impressive point-of-attack strength to Tuscaloosa.Roberts redshirted his freshman year and saw limited action in his sophomore season, playing in just three games. His junior year marked a significant leap in playing time, as he appeared in 11 games with eight consecutive starts at right guard. Roberts was recognized for his performance against Tennessee and was part of the offensive line honored for their efforts against LSU.
In his final season, Roberts showcased his development, helping Alabama's offense achieve a season-high 507 yards against LSU and 574 yards against Chattanooga. His performance peaked in the SEC Championship game against Georgia, where he recorded a career-high six knockdown blocks against the top-ranked Bulldogs defense.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Road-grader in the run game, consistently displaces defenders and creates lanes for backs
- Anchor strength in pass pro, rarely gets bull-rushed or driven back into the pocket
- Positional flexibility, has taken snaps at both guard and tackle spots
- High-ceiling prospect with a steep developmental curve over his college career
- Mauler mentality in the trenches, seeks to finish blocks and plays through the whistle
- Iron man durability, strung together eight straight starts and played through minor nicks
- High football IQ, picks up stunts and twists with ease in pass protection
- Nasty streak and competitive fire, consistently racks up pancake blocks
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Green in terms of starting experience, only one full season as a first-stringer
- Lumbering in space, lacks ideal quickness to consistently reach second-level targets
- Raw in his pass set technique, needs refinement in hand placement and kickslide consistency
- Susceptible to quick-twitch interior rushers, can struggle to match their first step
- Occasional waist-bender, can get off-balance when lunging in pass protection
Scouting Report: Summary
Roberts brings a power-blocking skill set that translates well to gap and inside zone schemes at the next level. His ability to create movement at the point of attack will appeal to run-heavy offenses looking to establish dominance in the trenches. While raw in some aspects, Roberts' late-season performance against top-tier SEC competition hints at his potential to develop into a reliable NFL starter.Teams will need to weigh Roberts' limited starting experience against his clear physical tools and upward trajectory. His anchor strength and improving pass protection suggest he could become a solid interior presence with proper coaching. However, he'll need to enhance his lateral agility and technique refinement to maximize his effectiveness against NFL-caliber defenders.
Roberts' ceiling as an NFL guard will largely depend on his ability to clean up technical flaws and adapt to the speed of the pro game. His power profile and developmental upside make him an intriguing mid-round option for teams willing to invest in his growth.
