Scouting Report: Strengths
- Super productive elite athlete with a freakish combination of size 258lbs, speed 4.58 (96th percentile) and explosion (showcased with a 96th percentile broad jump)
- Flashes strength at the point of attack with active, violent hand use. Forceful with his upper body to defeat blocks. Strong hustle player.
- Foskey has violent hands and consistently breaks away and disengages from blockers. He’s instinctive, reading, reacting and locating the ball quickly, and finishing plays as an authoritative, wrap-up tackler.
- Adds an extra dimension on special teams - has blocked multiple punts
- He not only has long speed but an outstanding initial burst. Rarely gets beaten off the snap
- Has outstanding bend around the edge and the ability to set the edge in the run game
- He’s flexible enough to bend the edge, and he’s at his best when Foskey can use his quickness and change-of-direction abilities to counter back inside.
- Foskey has an excellent feel for working off blockers and knowing how and when to counter as the play goes on
- Has impressive strong violent hands, and uses them like clubs - technique is akin to a seasoned veteran
- Plays with leverage at the point of attack whether inside or outside. Keeps eyes in the backfield when inside; moves linemen to either side with strong hands.
- His long limbs and strong core strength allow him to power through blockers, and he has the flexibility to loop inside and get home on twists.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- All too often plays high and with poor balance and power. He’ll lose ground at the point of attack, and Foskey doesn’t get the full benefit of his length
- Doesn't change direction easily and is more fast than quick and as a result, struggles to adjust if his initial move fails
- Can be beaten and taken out of the game on run plays by running directly at him
- Wins his battles with speed and isn't physically dominating and show only average overall strength
- While his bend is good it's not top-notch and has to sacrifice speed to turn the corner
Scouting Report: Summary
Isaiah Foskey is an outstanding edge rusher who combines supreme athletic ability, outstanding overall technique, and an excellent recent resume of production at the highest level. He doesn't come without reservations though, the main one being his average strength which while not a major issue still limits his upside as a complete player. Despite this Foskey is still a quality talent and an excellent pro prospect who has first-round skills, although due to the abundance of top-class edge rushers in this year's class will likely drop to the second day of the 2023 NFL draft.Isaiah Foskey percentiles vs other Defensive Lines (NFL Combine historically - higher value represents better perfomance)
