Draft Profile: Bio
After high school, Kincaid opted to join San Diego after going unranked by all the major scouting services. This was due to his limited playing time as a football player as he more interested in basketball.

In 2018 as a freshman, Kincaid saw action in just one game for the Toreros as he made 3 receptions for just 37 yards for an average of 12.3 yards per reception, with one TD, and a QB rating when targeted of 157.6.

As a sophomore in 2019 he played 4 games and had a solid 16 catches for 336 yards for an average of 21.0 yards per catch, with 2 TDs, and an outstanding QB rating when targeted of 129.6.

After two successful seasons Kincaid transferred to Utah where as a junior in 2020 he played 5 games and hauled in just one catch for just 14 yards for an average of 14.0 yards per catch.

As a senior in 2021 he played 14 games and had a solid 36 catches for 510 yards for an average of 14.2 yards per catch, 8 TDs, and an outstanding QB rating when targeted of 153.5. In pass protection, he gave up no sacks.

As a fifth-year senior in 2022 he exploded as he played 12 games and had an excellent 70 catches for 890 yards for an average of 12.7 yards per catch, 8 TDs, and an outstanding QB rating when targeted of 115.4. In pass protection, he gave up no pressures and surrendered no sacks.
Honors & awards
  • 55 career games played in Division I football (24 at San Diego) with 24 starts.
  • Active career leader among tight ends in the FBS with 2,484 receiving yards and 35 receiving touchdowns.
  • His 16 receiving touchdowns at Utah ties for 10th all-time.
  • 2022 John Mackey Award Semifinalist.
  • 2022 PFF (2nd Team), Bleacher Report (1st Team), AP (3rd Team) All-America.
  • 2022 Midseason All-American (AP, CFN, PFF).
  • All-Pac-12 first team in 2022, honorable mention in 2021.
  • AP and Hero Sports All-American in 2019.
  • All-conference second-team honors as a sophomore.
  • Led all FCS tight ends in yards per catch in 2019 (18.98), ranking second among FCS tight ends in receiving yards (835) and receiving yards per game (69.6).
  • Season-high 152 receiving yards on six catches with one TD at Cal Poly in 2019.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Super productive TE who led the nation with 70 receptions and 890 yards - looks and plays like a receiver
  • Kincaid is a former basketball player who plays with smoothness and balance and shows a knack for setting up defensive backs.
  • Tracks the ball well on intermediate routes - is rarely caught out of position
  • Is explosive off the line and has the deep speed to create some separation against safeties
  • Runs perfect routes and has an impressive catch radius
  • He has soft hands and uses his frame effectively to shield defenders, making him a major threat in the red zone. Kincaid can also turn upfield and break a tackle.
  • A lean athlete with obvious upside - flashes the ability to make the outstanding catch.
  • Quick athlete and is usually sure-handed as a receiver. Much-improved route runner, creating space in coverage.
  • Decent strength and effort to run through arm tackles.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Built more like a pumped-up receiver and blocks as such - struggles both as a run and pass blocker
  • Kincaid lacks the twitch to create consistent separation, and despite his size and ability to track the ball downfield, Kincaid isn’t always great on contested catches.
  • He’ll also have to adjust to getting his head around to locate the ball on shorter routes over the middle.
  • Average size and power for the position; won't overwhelm with his strength
  • Has played most of his snaps from the slot - seems difficult to consider as a strict tight end - more of a jumbo slot player
Scouting Report: Summary
Dalton Kincaid is an elite receiving tight end, who possesses super soft hands, runs crisp well disciplined routes, and has the speed that makes him almost uncoverable by linebackers. He however doesn't offer much as a blocker and so will probably not be regarded as a three-down player in a traditional pro offense.
He'll likely put up good numbers at the next level although his limited blocking ability will keep him out of the first round in the 2023 NFL Draft.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
