Drafted: ROUND: 3 - Pick Number: 75 (HOU)
Draft Profile: Bio
Harris grabbed the starting job at will linebacker to begin Alabama's 2020 campaign.Ranked second on their defense with 79 stops, including seven for loss (-31 yards) and 4.5 sacks (-28 yards). He also managed six quarterback pressures, two pass breakups, and an interception which resulted in him being selected as a semifinalist for the Butkus Award.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Shows toughness to get under the pads of tackles to bull them, club them upfield to get the inside lane, or fight through blocks for secondary rush when the passer steps up.
- He will always try to plow into the largest piles and has a good knack of ending up glued to the ball carrier.
- Can attack the edge with speed and has the flexibility to dip low and under the tackle's reach.
- Handles misdirection well with quick change-of-direction ability. Comes downhill quickly against the run when he has an open lane.
- Gets pressures on inside stunts and was too explosive for college guards to handle.
- Made Bruce Feldman's Freaks list at #27 -- The 6-2, 232-pounder merits a spot on our list for his exceptional explosiveness, power cleaning 405 pounds.
- Shows a burst to close. Flashes explosive hitting ability and good lateral and downfield pursuit.
- Good closing speed with long arms to drag down quarterbacks and running backs.
- Harris dominates running backs as a blitzer and racked up 31 pressures on 116 pass-rushing snaps last year.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Lacks pop and strength to anchor, though. Most effective when uncovered inside and chasing stretch plays to the sideline.
- Locates the ball but takes circuitous routes to go get to it. Should use power and long arms to take on and disengage from blocks. Inefficient with his angles.
- Work in progress as a pass rusher, with upfield burst and flexibility to dip and scrape.
Scouting Report: Summary
Harris does everything well and displays no obvious weakness in his game and will likely be able to start from day one. At the beginning of the year, we had him as our top-ranked inside linebacker in this class, but his stock has fallen a little, and now consider him as a solid second-round selection in the 2022 NFL Draft.Christian Harris percentiles vs other Linebackers (NFL Combine historically - higher value represents better perfomance)

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank
in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance.
For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
