Scouting Report: Strengths
- Combines excellent power with initial quickness, but one of his best attributes are his violent hands, which Johnson uses with impressive precision.
- Can make the impressive chest-to-chest bear hug tackle in the hole due to his ability to wreak havoc in the backfield.
- Excellent hustle-and-chase tackler. Good closing speed with change of direction to corral mobile quarterbacks.
- Johnson has an impressive blend of length and movement skills, capable of dominating shorter interior blockers as a penetrator and showing lateral agility in addition to speed in pursuit.
- He has an excellent feel for working off blockers and knowing how and when to counter as the play goes on.
- He’s quick to react and locate the ball, and he shows enough speed to succeed in backside pursuit. Johnson plays with excellent balance and a strong, flexible core, rarely ending up on the ground.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- His spin move is a bit slow and mechanical. He’s susceptible to cut blocks, a tactic that was used on him often
- Johnson remains a bit raw, as Johnson is inconsistent with his hand use and lacks violence in his hands
- Johnson lacks elite traits in the pass rush and will need to develop a counter move.
