Nobody dealt better than the Packers this weekend: B+. If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Packers, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. The Allen steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
The Packers paired the rookies with proven help, Taylor Moton leading the way. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick33
Rnd2
Kamren Kinchens
The board had Kamren Kinchens higher than Round 2, Pick 1, and the safety fell to them anyway. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick41
Rnd2
Chris Braswell
Chris Braswell at No. 41 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick51
Rnd2
Quinyon Mitchell
Quinyon Mitchell is a better player than the 51st pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick65
Rnd3
Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in pick 65 is fair value, right on his grade. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick83
Rnd3
Christian Haynes
A tidy little value on Christian Haynes in slot 83, a step better than break-even. It fills a real need, too.
Pick119
Rnd4
Braelon Allen
Braelon Allen at the 119th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick135
Rnd4
Javion Cohen
Javion Cohen at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick138
Rnd5
Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks at pick No. 138 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick168
Rnd5
Layden Robinson
Layden Robinson slid further than he should have, and No. 168 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick197
Rnd6
Joshua Gray
No drama and no debate, Joshua Gray went about where he belonged in pick No. 197. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick217
Rnd6
Isaiah Davis
Isaiah Davis in the 217th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick219
Rnd6
Xavier Restrepo
A straight-up fair deal on Xavier Restrepo at the 219th pick, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Pick240
Rnd7
Miles Frazier
Miles Frazier in slot 240 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
