Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
Williams is the plan now, and the Bears grade out a D-.

The phones were a trap the Bears kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.

Caleb Williams is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. Washington has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

On value alone, Kinchens makes the weekend a net positive.

A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In pick 1 they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In slot 9 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick43 Rnd2 Kris Jenkins
Kris Jenkins at the 43rd pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick75 Rnd3 Kamren Kinchens
Kamren Kinchens at the 75th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick79 Rnd3 Malik Washington
Malik Washington at pick No. 79 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick111 Rnd4 Zak Zinter
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Zak Zinter in No. 111. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick143 Rnd5 Kalen King
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 5 slot with a little surplus value in Kalen King. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
