Draft Grade — Bears

FutureA
Williams is the Bears' new face under center. Grade: D. The phones were a trap the Bears kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. The math is unkind, and the D follows.
So much rides on Caleb Williams that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want.
They are betting Mitchell proves the room right and everyone else wrong. That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and running back is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In the 1st overall pick they get the arm they will build around at fair value.
Pick19
Rnd1
Adonai Mitchell
In slot 19 they get a matchup problem out wide, reach and all. A real need, handled.
Pick75
Rnd3
Xavier Legette
No edge and no loss on Xavier Legette in the 75th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick84
Rnd3
Marshawn Kneeland
No drama and no debate, Marshawn Kneeland went about where he belonged in pick No. 84. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick109
Rnd4
Zak Zinter
Nothing to complain about; Zak Zinter went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick118
Rnd4
DeWayne Carter
DeWayne Carter slipping to pick 118 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick121
Rnd4
Jalen McMillan
Jalen McMillan in the Round 4 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
