Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureA+
A solid, sensible weekend for the Seahawks: B+.

The war room fell hard for Caleb Okechukwu, and it showed at Round 7, Pick 16: 87 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.

That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up.

Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick45 Rnd2 Graham Barton
Graham Barton slid further than he should have, and slot 45 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick78 Rnd3 D.J. James
D.J. James at the 78th pick is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick118 Rnd4 Tyler Davis
Circle this one: Tyler Davis at No. 118 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick154 Rnd5 Cole Bishop
They will replay Cole Bishop at the 154th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick161 Rnd5 Roger Rosengarten
A reach for Roger Rosengarten in the Round 5 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick176 Rnd6 Nathan Thomas
A reasonable price with a little left over, Nathan Thomas in pick 176. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick194 Rnd6 JD Bertrand
Nothing to complain about; JD Bertrand went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick236 Rnd7 Caleb Okechukwu
They talked themselves into Caleb Okechukwu at pick 236, and the board did not agree. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
