FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Seahawks: B-. Boards are made to be trusted, and the Seahawks shredded theirs for Joe Milton III. He came off 111 spots early, and the room will hear about it. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
The Devonshire value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up. The trade work was a quiet net positive.
On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Byron Murphy II
In the 25th overall pick they get a run-stuffing presence up front. A real need, handled.
Pick58
Rnd2
Javon Bullard
Javon Bullard at pick 58 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick78
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe in the Round 3 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick81
Rnd3
Ben Sinnott
They reached a country mile for Ben Sinnott at pick No. 81, and the board is aghast. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick88
Rnd3
Joe Milton III
They talked themselves into Joe Milton III at No. 88, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick119
Rnd4
Cedric Gray
No drama and no debate, Cedric Gray went about where he belonged in slot 119. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick151
Rnd5
Kalen King
A tidy bit of business in slot 151, where Kalen King graded well above the range. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick195
Rnd6
Drake Nugent
Drake Nugent at pick No. 195 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick216
Rnd6
Edefuan Ulofoshio
A wild overpay on Edefuan Ulofoshio in the Round 6 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick233
Rnd7
Eyabi Okie-Anoma
They reached into another round for Eyabi Okie-Anoma, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick234
Rnd7
M.J. Devonshire
They will replay M.J. Devonshire at No. 234 for years; that is how good the value is. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
