Nobody else had Brady Cook anywhere near the 231st overall pick. The Dolphins did, by 54 spots, and that gap is the whole story.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. The Schwesinger pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
