You can draft well and still miss the point. The Texans did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to edge rusher, which was the need that mattered most.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is McWilliams. Every board in the league had Gordon II lower, and that gap is the story. The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes.

The skill positions did well by the weekend.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Marcus Mbow at the 58th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A need, and now a little less of one.

A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tez Johnson. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick127 Rnd4 Billy Bowman Jr.
Good price on Billy Bowman Jr. in slot 127, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick167 Rnd5 Ollie Gordon II
Ollie Gordon II in Round 5, Pick 28 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick243 Rnd7 Mac McWilliams
The board had Mac McWilliams higher than pick 243, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
