Draft Grade — Texans
Overall A
ValueB+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureA+
The Texans robbed the room for Reese. Final grade: A.

Whoever sat across the table from the Texans should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A to show for it.

They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Landing Reese that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with running back the one that mattered most.

Bottom line, with Arvell Reese leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In the 28th overall pick they get a green-dot type in the middle at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick38 Rnd2 Christen Miller
They read the board right and Christen Miller was the payoff at the 38th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick69 Rnd3 Jadarian Price
Nice patience on Jadarian Price, who had no business lasting to pick 69. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick128 Rnd4 Keylan Rutledge
A clean, defensible pick in No. 128 with a little surplus value in Keylan Rutledge. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick165 Rnd5 Earnest Greene III
A straight-up fair deal on Earnest Greene III at the Round 5 slot, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick243 Rnd7 Rueben Owens II
Rueben Owens II at pick No. 243 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick244 Rnd7 Shamar Easter
A quiet steal in the Round 7 slot: Shamar Easter for less than the market said. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick246 Rnd7 Haynes King
Haynes King is a better player than pick No. 246 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
