Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureA+
Sanders is the plan now, and the Jaguars grade out a D.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Jaguars shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.

Shedeur Sanders gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. It is not that Pearce Jr. is a bad player; it is that the Jaguars had louder needs to answer first.

Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. If Webb pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Shedeur Sanders
In pick 2 they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick26 Rnd1 Nic Scourton
In the 26th overall pick they get a problem off the edge at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick29 Rnd1 James Pearce Jr.
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending Round 1, Pick 29 on James Pearce Jr. with interior defensive lineman, cornerback and other spots unsolved.
Pick33 Rnd2 Josh Conerly Jr.
No drama and no debate, Josh Conerly Jr. went about where he belonged in No. 33. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick34 Rnd2 Clay Webb
A reach on Clay Webb in the Round 2 slot; the board had better options right there. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick65 Rnd3 Jay Higgins
By-the-book stuff, Jay Higgins at pick No. 65 squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick81 Rnd3 Smael Mondon Jr.
Smael Mondon Jr. at slot 81 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick92 Rnd3 Nick Emmanwori
Fair-plus on Nick Emmanwori, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It fills a real need, too.
Pick227 Rnd7 Jimmy Horn Jr.
Jimmy Horn Jr. in slot 227 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
