Mr. Pfizer DRAFTING FOR THEChiefs
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Chiefs: B. Everything else got attention, and tight end got none. That is a strange way for the Chiefs to leave a draft. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
They will need Smith to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The Jones steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Brian Thomas Jr.
In pick 32 they get a true top target, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick64
Rnd2
Patrick Paul
Patrick Paul at slot 64 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick95
Rnd3
Leonard Taylor III
Leonard Taylor III in Round 3, Pick 32 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick133
Rnd4
Tykee Smith
They paid up for Tykee Smith at the Round 4 slot when waiting would have done the job. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick158
Rnd5
Jarrian Jones
They let Jarrian Jones come to them and pounced at No. 158. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick172
Rnd5
Walter Rouse
By-the-book stuff, Walter Rouse at the 172nd overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
