The Browns found their guy under center in Sanders: C-. The search is over. The Browns handed the keys to Shedeur Sanders, and the whole operation now runs on his development.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. Nolen falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Browns clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Shedeur Sanders
In Round 1, Pick 7 they get their quarterback of the future at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33
Rnd2
Walter Nolen
The board had Walter Nolen higher than No. 33, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick42
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton slipping to pick 42 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It fills a real need, too.
Pick55
Rnd2
Tre Harris
Tre Harris at the Round 2 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick67
Rnd3
Marcus Mbow
Marcus Mbow at the 67th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick86
Rnd3
Maxwell Hairston
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Maxwell Hairston in slot 86. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick94
Rnd3
Chris Paul Jr.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Chris Paul Jr. in pick No. 94. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick103
Rnd4
Tez Johnson
They read the board right and Tez Johnson was the payoff at the 103rd pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
