BT DRAFTING FOR THEPackers

Draft Grade — Packers
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Packers cashed the board's mistake on Hancock: B-. You build a draft on nights like this. Jordan Hancock had no business being available in the 237th overall pick, and the Packers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The McLaughlin pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Job largely done: cornerback settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Matthew Golden
In the Round 1 slot they get a No. 1 receiver, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick54
Rnd2
Alfred Collins
No drama and no debate, Alfred Collins went about where he belonged in slot 54. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick87
Rnd3
Maxwell Hairston
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 87, where Maxwell Hairston graded well above the range. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick124
Rnd4
Anthony Belton
Value with a capital V on Anthony Belton in No. 124, a genuine coup. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick159
Rnd5
Seth McLaughlin
Seth McLaughlin in pick 159 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The roster fit checks out.
Pick198
Rnd6
Jack Nelson
Jack Nelson at the 198th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick237
Rnd7
Jordan Hancock
The board fumbled Jordan Hancock all the way to the 237th overall pick, and they scooped it up. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick250
Rnd7
Theo Wease Jr.
Theo Wease Jr. at Round 7, Pick 34 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
