jj3325 DRAFTING FOR THEPackers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Packers
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Packers. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Packers did exactly that with Charles Turner III in the Round 7 slot. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
The Hopper steal is the beam this whole class leans on. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Nate Wiggins
In No. 25 they get a lockdown presence outside, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick41
Rnd2
Kamren Kinchens
Kamren Kinchens at the 41st pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick57
Rnd2
Keon Coleman
Steal is underselling it; Keon Coleman at slot 57 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick88
Rnd3
Sedrick Van Pran
They paid sticker price for Sedrick Van Pran in pick No. 88, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick91
Rnd3
McKinnley Jackson
A clean, defensible pick in pick 91 with a little surplus value in McKinnley Jackson. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick126
Rnd4
Jaylen Wright
Jaylen Wright at the Round 4 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick168
Rnd5
LaDarius Henderson
LaDarius Henderson in the 168th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick203
Rnd6
Ty'Ron Hopper
Ty'Ron Hopper in No. 203 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick216
Rnd6
Nathaniel Watson
A wild overpay on Nathaniel Watson in slot 216, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick243
Rnd7
Dwight McGlothern
A big swing on Dwight McGlothern at pick No. 243, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick251
Rnd7
Charles Turner III
A real head-scratcher, Charles Turner III in pick 251 is miles ahead of his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
