904 DRAFTING FOR THEJaguars

Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall

FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Jaguars: B-. Boards are made to be trusted, and the Jaguars shredded theirs for DeMonte Capehart. He came off 64 spots early, and the room will hear about it. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
Spending an early pick on edge rusher with safety, linebacker and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 9 of the wish list covered.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Brian Thomas Jr.
In No. 17 they get a weapon on the perimeter, though they paid up to get him. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick48
Rnd2
Jackson Powers-Johnson
Jackson Powers-Johnson at pick 48 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick96
Rnd3
Khyree Jackson
They jumped the gun on Khyree Jackson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick115
Rnd4
Darius Robinson
Darius Robinson in slot 115 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick117
Rnd4
Justin Eboigbe
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went edge rusher with Justin Eboigbe while clear needs at safety, linebacker and other spots sat open.
Pick152
Rnd5
Brandon Coleman
Brandon Coleman at the 152nd overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick195
Rnd6
Christian Jones
Christian Jones at the 195th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick211
Rnd6
Jared Wiley
Jared Wiley at pick No. 211 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick234
Rnd7
DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart at the 234th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
