Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall

FutureB-
The Chiefs won the night they stopped Simpson from sliding. Grade: B-. Somebody in pick No. 209 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Chiefs sat still while Jaylin Simpson, the No. 151 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
They are betting Lewis proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Adonai Mitchell
No edge and no loss on Adonai Mitchell in No. 31; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick63
Rnd2
Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe at pick 63 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick94
Rnd3
Darius Robinson
Darius Robinson at the 94th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick131
Rnd4
MarShawn Lloyd
They paid sticker price for MarShawn Lloyd in the 131st pick, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick161
Rnd5
Michael Barrett
A wild overpay on Michael Barrett in the Round 5 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick171
Rnd5
Jared Wiley
Jared Wiley at pick No. 171 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick175
Rnd5
Isaiah Williams
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Isaiah Williams. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick209
Rnd6
Jaylin Simpson
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Jaylin Simpson in slot 209, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick252
Rnd7
Aaron Lewis
They reached into another round for Aaron Lewis, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
