Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Chiefs: B-.

You can usually follow a front office's logic. This one is harder. The Chiefs spent Round 3, Pick 26 on Maason Smith while tight end, quarterback and other spots sat unaddressed. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Restrepo has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick26 Rnd1 Jordan Morgan
Jordan Morgan at pick No. 26 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick58 Rnd2 T'Vondre Sweat
No drama and no debate, T'Vondre Sweat went about where he belonged in the 58th pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick89 Rnd3 Maason Smith
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Maason Smith at DT-EDGE with tight end, quarterback and other spots open.
Pick126 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson at No. 126 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick167 Rnd5 Theo Wease Jr.
Theo Wease Jr. in the Round 5 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick171 Rnd5 Josh Proctor
No edge and no loss on Josh Proctor in Round 5, Pick 35; it is a wash and a sensible one. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick175 Rnd5 Christian Jones
They jumped the gun on Christian Jones, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick204 Rnd6 Xavier Restrepo
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Xavier Restrepo well ahead of where he belonged. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick247 Rnd7 Eric Gentry
Eric Gentry at the 247th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
