marcdav1191 DRAFTING FOR THEVikings
Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Vikings. For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Vikings walked out of the weekend still thin at quarterback, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons.
However the rest shakes out, Jones Jr. at that price is a win they earned. They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Armand Membou
In pick 24 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick97
Rnd3
Denzel Burke
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Denzel Burke at the Round 3 slot. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick140
Rnd5
Emery Jones Jr.
A quiet steal in the 140th pick: Emery Jones Jr. for less than the market said. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick161
Rnd5
RJ Harvey
No edge and no loss on RJ Harvey in No. 161; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
