Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB+
Grand theft in pick 143: the 49ers steal Restrepo and grade out a B+.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Xavier Restrepo, the No. 106 name on the board, stolen at slot 143. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick15 Rnd1 Mykel Williams
In the 15th overall pick they get a bendy edge with upside. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick43 Rnd2 Tyleik Williams
They did well to land Tyleik Williams in the Round 2 slot, just ahead of his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick68 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
They paid sticker price for Donovan Jackson in No. 68, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick75 Rnd3 Omarr Norman-Lott
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Omarr Norman-Lott. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick100 Rnd3 Ozzy Trapilo
Ozzy Trapilo at the 100th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick113 Rnd4 Jared Wilson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jared Wilson at pick No. 113. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick138 Rnd4 Billy Bowman Jr.
Billy Bowman Jr. at slot 138 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick143 Rnd5 Xavier Restrepo
They robbed the room for Xavier Restrepo here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick147 Rnd5 Quincy Riley
Quincy Riley at pick No. 147 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick160 Rnd5 Mitchell Evans
Mitchell Evans at the 160th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick227 Rnd7 Donovan Edwards
They will replay Donovan Edwards at pick 227 for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick249 Rnd7 Shemar James
Shemar James in No. 249 is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick252 Rnd7 Ja'Quinden Jackson
You do not let a running back like Ja'Quinden Jackson reach the Round 7 slot and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
