FutureB
A masterclass at the trade table lands the Cowboys a B+. If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Cowboys, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through cornerback. They are betting Eboigbe proves the room right and everyone else wrong. However the rest shakes out, Henderson at that price is a win they earned.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick34
Rnd2
Edgerrin Cooper
No edge and no loss on Edgerrin Cooper in the 34th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick62
Rnd2
Cooper Beebe
Nothing to complain about; Cooper Beebe went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick93
Rnd3
Devontez Walker
Devontez Walker in the 93rd overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick102
Rnd4
TreVeyon Henderson
Somehow TreVeyon Henderson was still sitting there in pick No. 102, and they pounced on premier running back value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick130
Rnd4
Justin Rogers
Justin Rogers in No. 130 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick134
Rnd4
Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson at pick 134 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick139
Rnd5
Shemar Turner
They did well to land Shemar Turner in slot 139, just ahead of his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick174
Rnd5
Jack Nelson
A straight-up fair deal on Jack Nelson at Round 5, Pick 38, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick212
Rnd6
Jaylon Carlies
They liked Jaylon Carlies enough to skip the value, taking him in the 212th overall pick. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick251
Rnd7
Justin Eboigbe
They left a pile of value on the table to take Justin Eboigbe this early at pick 251. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
