The Bears bet big and early on Ainias Smith, 61 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Spending an early pick on safety with interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
