The Bears fleeced the room on the phones and earned a A-. Boards are made to be trusted, and the Bears shredded theirs for Kamren Kinchens. He came off 32 spots early, and the room will hear about it. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They banked enough surplus on Polk to cover a lot of smaller sins.
They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. Adding D.K. Metcalf by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
Few war rooms will sleep better than this one tonight.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Chop Robinson
In the 10th pick they get a problem off the edge at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick22
Rnd1
Jared Verse
In the 22nd overall pick they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick42
Rnd2
Kamren Kinchens
Kamren Kinchens at Round 2, Pick 10 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick68
Rnd3
Jack Sawyer
Jack Sawyer at No. 68 is a conviction pick that outran the value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick74
Rnd3
Jackson Powers-Johnson
They paid sticker price for Jackson Powers-Johnson in pick No. 74, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick83
Rnd3
Ja'Lynn Polk
A tidy bit of business in slot 83, where Ja'Lynn Polk graded well above the range. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick86
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
They paid a round early for Zak Zinter in No. 86, more than the board wanted. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick104
Rnd4
Audric Estime
They jumped the gun on Audric Estime, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick132
Rnd4
Cade Stover
No drama and no debate, Cade Stover went about where he belonged in Round 4, Pick 32. A minor itch, scratched.
