Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B-
ValueB+ NeedB TradesD+ FutureB-
The Bears robbed the room for Jackson. Final grade: B-.

You could see the war room lean forward. Donovan Jackson at No. 148 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kenneth Grant at No. 30 is the proof. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick39 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori at the 39th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick41 Rnd2 Aireontae Ersery
A straight-up fair deal on Aireontae Ersery at pick No. 41, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick62 Rnd2 TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson at the Round 2 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick72 Rnd3 Zy Alexander
Zy Alexander at Round 3, Pick 8 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick148 Rnd5 Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson in the 148th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick173 Rnd5 Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander in slot 173 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick233 Rnd7 Theo Wease Jr.
Theo Wease Jr. slipping to pick 233 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick240 Rnd7 Jamon Dumas-Johnson
Jamon Dumas-Johnson at the Round 7 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A need, and now a little less of one.
