Draft Grade — Bears
Overall A+
ValueA+ NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureA+
Larceny in slot 247 lands the Bears a A+, Ward and all.

The Bears spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Cam Ward, the No. 8 name on the board, in No. 247. Little to argue with here, and the A+ says so.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Bears clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.

Bottom line, with Ashton Jeanty leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick Analysis
Pick39 Rnd2 Ashton Jeanty
Ashton Jeanty at pick 39 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick69 Rnd3 Shemar Stewart
Shemar Stewart at pick No. 69 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick72 Rnd3 Walter Nolen
Somehow Walter Nolen was still sitting there in No. 72, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick77 Rnd3 Nick Emmanwori
You do not let a safety like Nick Emmanwori reach the 77th pick and blink. They did not. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick148 Rnd5 Armand Membou
They will replay Armand Membou at the Round 5 slot for years; that is how good the value is. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick154 Rnd5 Wyatt Milum
Wyatt Milum in Round 5, Pick 16 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick233 Rnd7 Devin Neal
A running back of that caliber at the 233rd overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick240 Rnd7 Elijah Arroyo
Elijah Arroyo in slot 240 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick247 Rnd7 Cam Ward
Cam Ward at the 247th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A need, and now a little less of one.
