Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall
D
ValueB
NeedB

FutureB+
Mendoza is the Falcons' new face under center. Grade: D. The Falcons put a flag in the ground for Da'Shawn Womack, 44 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. The process wobbled, and the D is where it lands.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. Fernando Mendoza is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Getting Price where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, tight end very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Fernando Mendoza
In No. 2 they get a long-term answer under center. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick16
Rnd1
Mansoor Delane
In slot 16 they get a potential shutdown corner, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Pick22
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In the 22nd overall pick they get a downhill thumper at linebacker at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Pick33
Rnd2
Caleb Banks
A tidy little value on Caleb Banks in the 33rd pick, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick44
Rnd2
Emmanuel Pregnon
Emmanuel Pregnon in the Round 2 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick48
Rnd2
Akheem Mesidor
Akheem Mesidor at pick 48 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick79
Rnd3
Jadarian Price
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Jadarian Price in pick No. 79, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick86
Rnd3
Ja'Kobi Lane
The board fumbled Ja'Kobi Lane all the way to Round 3, Pick 22, and they scooped it up. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick103
Rnd4
Trinidad Chambliss
Trinidad Chambliss at No. 103 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick114
Rnd4
Jalon Kilgore
They took Jalon Kilgore at par in the 114th pick, which is nothing to complain about. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick175
Rnd5
Gracen Halton
They paid sticker price for Gracen Halton in slot 175, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick179
Rnd5
Isaiah Jatta
They reached into another round for Isaiah Jatta, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick193
Rnd6
Kalil Alexander
They talked themselves into Kalil Alexander at the 193rd overall pick, and the board did not agree. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick207
Rnd6
De'Zhaun Stribling
De'Zhaun Stribling at pick 207 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick211
Rnd6
Da'Shawn Womack
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Da'Shawn Womack. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick218
Rnd7
Anthony Evans III
No drama and no debate, Anthony Evans III went about where he belonged in No. 218. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick231
Rnd7
Isaac Smith
Isaac Smith at the Round 7 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick242
Rnd7
London Humphreys
No edge and no loss on London Humphreys in Round 7, Pick 26; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
